Mastering Life & Work Across Cultures
With over 2,000 cultures in the world, and a variety of expected behaviors in each, the increasing cultural diversity in our societies, communities, organizations, and institutions heightens the risks of misunderstanding, mistaken assumptions, and negative impact.
It takes openness, adaptability, and flexibility by everyone involved to minimize this risk and confidently navigate cultural differences. Self-diversity enables everyone to activate these qualities and collaborate in develop a multi-cultural identity.
Self-diversity is a science based and proven self-development approach built on the insight that all of us are influenced and impacted by multiple cultures by interacting with people from a wide variety of social environments. Recognizing, curating and developing the active integration of these influences is an important personal socio-psychological foundation for mastering cultural diversity.
This is particularly relevant to successfully and confidently work in multicultural societies, organizations, and teams. The complexity of the sum of all the styles, expectations, perceptions and norms can be overwhelming and trigger conflict and tension where cooperation is most needed (and possible). In fact, people often see conflict where there is none or miss it when there is one. Self-diversity allows for flexibility and adaptability to people, tasks, and challenges.
Fortunately, self-diversity, such as the ability to collaborate with and motivate people, and manage conflict across differences, can be developed.
